Introduction

This is the new, work-in-progress wiki for the DF0UK :3

Station Guide

Warning

The use of amplifiers requires proper introduction by experienced club members!

Start up procedure

  1. Turn on computer by turning on power strip behind monitors
  2. Open the control website
  3. Turn on power, connect to relay and rotor

Flex 6500

  1. Turn on Flex radio in the control website
  2. Start SmartSDR (or other compatible software)
  3. Check antenna connection is correct (you MUST receive some signals)
  4. Antennas will automatically switch according to the bands in the flex
  5. Amplifiers are available for selection and connected in line

IC-7300Mk2

  1. Ensure Flex is off and change cables on antenna switch (middle connection) to the Icom cable
  2. Turn on PSU and radio
  3. Turn on SB-230 PA for QRO
  4. Select antenna in control website
  5. Tune antenna (see paper guide in shack) with the PA (not needed for 100W ops)

Turn off procedure

  1. Park antenna north (alternatively south) with the rotor

Flex 6500

  1. Exit SmartSDR
  2. Turn off Flex in the control website
  3. If PA was used for a long time under high power wait 5m to cool down
  4. Turn off power
  5. Shutdown PC and turn off power strip

IC-7300Mk2

  1. Turn off SB-230
  2. Turn off radio and PSU
  3. reconnect coax to the flex at the antenna switch
  4. Turn off power in the control website
  5. Shutdown PC and turn off power strip

Setup

  1. Turn power on (long press channels 1-4 on the Remote-powerbar)
    • ch1: Controller and Flex
    • ch2: Power Amplifiers
    • ch3: Rotor Controller(s)
    • ch4: PC
  2. Turn on powerbar behind monitors
  3. Open the following programs on the PC
    • SmartSDR
    • PSTRotatorKW and PSTRotator6m
    • VNCViewer
  4. Connect PSTRotator via Connect button
  5. Start Flex + PA in PSTRotator
  6. Enable CAT on all PAs (click on Auto)
  7. Set PA to Operate

Shutdown

  1. Turn antenna North
  2. Set PAs to Standby
  3. Shut down Flex in PSTRotator
  4. Shut down FET-PA (Double-click top left, back to linux, Shut pi down)
  5. Shut down Tube-PA if applicable (long press, wait for countdown!)
  6. Shut down PC
  7. Turn off powerbar
  8. Turn off Power (long press)

Switch to FET-PA

  1. Set Tube-PA to Standby (short press)
  2. Disable ANT -> OMPower in PSTRotator
  3. Set ANT1 to RX/TX in SmartSDR
  4. Set FET-PA to Operate

Switch to Tube-PA

  1. If off: Turn PA on (long press and wait for countdown)
  2. Set FET-PA to Standby
  3. Enable ANT -> OMPower in PSTRotator
  4. Set ANT2 to RX/TX in SmartSDR
  5. Set PA to Operate (short press)

Preferred Frequency: 145.525 MHz (club calling frequency) Further information on local frequencies is listed in the Station Guide.

To turn on the TRX, ensure it has power from the power supply next to it (13.8 V, 25 A). Then long press the “on” button on the top left.

To change the QRG, rotate the large buton on the left.

Wavelog

Wavelog is the digital logbook of DF0UK.

It is available for all members of the DF0UK. If you operate the station under the DF0UK callsign, you are required to log your QSOs on here.

If you desire a personal account for logging your own QSOs, contact Sammy (@snefi:bemmy.de) on Matrix.
